Whimsical

8 07 2009

I’m pretty whimsical when it comes down to my blog’s layout (this is my second layout change in the past 7 days). The good thing about this is the fact that I usually add more content when I change my layout.

So, ta-da, an ‘About’ and ‘Links’ page.

Tutti Frutti

7 07 2009

I love fruit, especially sweet fruits, so you can imagine my delight when mother came home with lychees! Fresh ones (or rather, imported ones that weren’t canned) taste a lot better than canned lychees, though they are a bit less sweet and a bit more bitter. The last part is most likely because fresh lychees still have their pits and canned lychees usually have added sugar to make them even sweeter.

Lychees, like any other fruit, are messy when you have to peel them. They’re sticky but also very juicy which makes peeling them a fingerlicking job.

I love the fact that underneath that rough and semi-hard skin lies a soft and sweet fruit. Mmm, off to get more lychees now.

Love Is In The Air

6 07 2009

The title of today’s post is a reference to the fact that my boyfriend visited me tonight, but it has little to do with the rest of said post. Hehe, the guy just came back from Rock Werchter, all tanned and tired though luckily freshly showered. During RW, the temperature was an average of 30 degrees Celsius, which simply means that everyone there was sweaty and smelly. Though I guess that doesn’t matter a lot to most of those people, since beer is just about the only beverage that they drink there. I don’t think that you care what other people smell like if you’re drunk and if they reek like beer.

Boyfriend couldn’t stay too long though, he had to drive to the barracks in LPB ’cause he’s got to work tomorrow (he works in the army, in case that’s not clear) though he hopes he won’t have to do that for much longer. He gave his three-months-notice last month or so but is hoping to be able to take some vacation for the resting two months until he’s going back to school.

On a different note, I drew something again (wow, miracle). It’s part of an art trade with Silverpaws from Subeta:

Art Trade - Keaira

Keaira, Silverpaws’ OC.

I had some fun drawing her and Silverpaws likes it, so we’re all happy people! According to Silver, the drawing looks “fashion-esque”. Though it probably looks like that to her because my poses are usually inspired by models, lol.

I like the sound of fashion-esque though.

Summer Lovin’

2 07 2009

Summer and spring bring birds, flowers, happy people… And pollen. Thanks to the medical world, though, one can generally live through a summer with at least half the problems that an pollen-allergic person normally does (though some say that the higher number of pollen-allergic people is to blame on the filthy gases flying around earth, and I’m not talking about oops-I-shouldn’t-have-eaten-those-chili’s gases).

Flowers and kittens, both pretty but annoying when you’re allergic.

Spring also brings exams (or at least it does in Belgium, I’m not quite sure about other countries) and exams means studying… During revision, all one generally does is study, eat, drink coffee (or power-drinks) and sleep, though the latter is only optional. Then once exams hit it’s time to panic and wonder if you’ve done enough, though once you’ve done your exam you can’t help but think that maybe you should have paid more attention in class.

Thank god for a boyfriend who’s there to soothe you during exams. I don’t know about your lover, but mine is rather considerate and caring. I slept over once during exams (for a much-needed break) and was pleasantly surprised with a relaxing bath, a nice massage and a lovely fruity breakfast in the late morning.

Grapes and coffee… Mmmm (not mentioned are the yummy strawberries and also some kiwi).

Then once exams were finally over, I spent some time on trying to get my pasty limbs to tan in the boyfriend’s backyard. There was a lot of fun to be had with his sisters (his youngest sister is my best friend, you see) and the next day we went to the beach on impulse.

So to sum it up, I had a fun past couple of months with some downs and a lot of ups. Let’s just hope that the rest of the summer will be as much fun as well!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes

1 07 2009

Out with the old and in with the new… Or how did that proverb go? I’ve never been any good with those things in my mother tongue, let alone in English. You get the idea though. I picked a new theme, or maybe I should say a new one considering it (apparently) is the standard WordPress theme.

Since I threw everything out, I figured it’d be pretty convenient to have a list of things to-do:

  • Add pages with content (art and maybe photography as well).
  • Make a button thing for links.
  • Blog more often.

That’s about it. After I’ve set up some pages, I’ll probably make a post with what the heck I’ve been up to. Might be a nice refresher for my crappy memory as well.
